One resident per household is required to be a working artist or a LCAD student who is also a working artist and must be approved by the City of Laguna Beach Arts Commission through the review of applications and portfolios to receive an Artists Occupancy Permit. All individuals whose primary occupation includes one of the following qualify: visual (painting, drawing, sculpture, book arts, printmaking & mixed media), imaginative (literature, poetry, photography, music composition, choreography, cinematography & computer arts), functional (metal, textiles, paper, wood, ceramics, glass, and/or plastic objects) and performing arts (singers, dancers, musicians, actors, performance artists; costume, lighting, sound & set designers) qualify which helps to promote a diverse amalgam of artistic collaboration.
